South Farm’s Horse Barn sits adjacent to the Tudor Barn and is the most recently converted venue space providing couples with a stunning and flexible option to add to the choice of ceremony and reception spaces already on offer at South Farm.
The historic Horse Barn, originally home to the eight shire horses that worked the farm, is now licenced for ceremonies making a grand total of five ceremony options now available at South Farm.
Licensed to seat 65 guests for a wedding ceremony the Horse Barn presents a stunning choice for those who enjoy the amalgamation of old and new in a unique setting. Couples can say their vows surrounded by their nearest and dearest in a room framed by beautiful original beams and timbers yet under state of the art lighting which can be set to compliment your colour scheme.
In addition to ceremonies the Horse Barn also offers a multi-functional venue space for evening receptions and can be used either as a dancing and party room or set as a comfortable lounge space depending on numbers and preference. With high tech lighting, colour and sequencing together with the partially glazed dance floor it really is a spectacular dancing space. The Horse Barn also offers an early set-up opportunity for evening musicians, bands and DJ’s.
The key design principles in converting the horse barn have been in-keeping with our conservation focused strategy. The 200 year old cobbled stable floor has been restored to its original condition and is dramatically down-lit, above which a stunning designer dance floor of transparent non-slip glass has been suspended.
The outstanding original beams and timbers have been preserved throughout and the original mangers for the eight shire horses lining the two sides have been restored, down-lit and topped with frosted glass.
The great beamed gable separating the Horse Barn and Tudor Barn has been imaginatively glazed to create a dramatic window between the two spaces and can be revealed at the touch of a button meaning couples have the option of dramatically unveiling the Horse Barn at the beginning of the evening reception should they wish, an option becoming very popular as a reveal for a couples’ First Dance. Leading edge lighting designers have installed an impressive and versatile matrix to suit every mood, occasion and theme.
The Horse Barn is also used as a breakfast room for the morning after your wedding with a capacity of up to forty guests meaning all those staying on site, including your camping guests if you wish, can join you for breakfast the next morning. This also gives couples the scope to invite guests staying in the local area to join them for breakfast the morning after their wedding should they wish.
