We’re so proud of how beautiful our gardens are throughout the seasons and Winter is no exception. In January we can’t wait for the first daffodils to arrive followed by the stunning snowdrops and crocuses. The winter sunshine brings green shoots and pretty buds with pops of colour appearing everywhere! In addition to hosting beautiful Winter Weddings we always take advantage of the slightly quieter season to undertake some larger maintenance projects within our house, barns and gardens.
Our team have hand-painted all our pretty Romany and Showman’s Wagons and we have redecorated all guest accommodation and main spaces, replaced carpets, refurbished the lovely tiled floor in the Old Dairy and made sure everything is pristine and beautiful.
Our chefs have been busy in the kitchen wowing us with their creativity at an amazing cook-off which led to us adding extra delicious dishes to our already extensive range of wedding menus. We are really excited to have added more plant-based dishes to our menus – we believe we have one of the most comprehensive range of vegetarian and plant-based menus you’ll find at any wedding venue. A huge amount of the produce we use in our menus is organically grown in our very own small-holding so you’ll find our wedding menus to be seasonal using the freshest possible ingredients, some of which are grown just zero food miles from where our chefs prepare and cook. Apart from allowing our chefs even more creativity and seasonality in our menus this also means we can cut down on plastic waste and refrigeration which helps us to reduce our own carbon footprint and hence make your wedding day more sustainable!
In the garden we’ve undertaken a large makeover this Winter, landscaping the gardens behind the Summer House and lily pond and aligning our charming garden bridge to lead directly to the pretty pergola in the arboretum beyond – the perfect backdrop for garden wedding ceremonies and photos!
You’ll also see some changes to our beautiful driveway which has been lined with new Birch trees, Betula Jacqmontii. The Birches replace the cherry trees that stood here for the last 45 years, some of which had come to the end of their natural lifespan. The new trees have a stunning white bark which glistens beautifully in the sunshine. They stand proudly at our entrance ready to greet all our visitors, twinkling with fairy lights and creating a truly magical entrance to our countryside wedding venue. They will no doubt set a stunning scene for many wedding photos over the next 45 years!
