The band features a line-up of award-winning musicians and doesn’t use a ‘pool’ of performers as many bands do. With Stumpy Oak, you’re assured of a professional, energetic and memorable performance every time! The band plays a mixture of Scottish, Irish and English tunes, however the music can be tailored to the client’s wishes.
Stumpy Oak boasts an unusually big sound. Fiery fiddle, accordion and guitar are complimented by guitar sub-octaves (giving a bass guitar sound) and a stompbox (like a bass drum). Lighting is included with every booking, adding to the atmosphere. A friendly, patient caller completes the line-up to talk guests through the dance moves prior to/during each dance so that everyone knows what to do and can have fun, regardless of age or experience!
Tailored packages are available including:
- DJ/disco add-on
- Ceremony music (folk and classical)
- Background music
A single sound system is used for ceilidh/disco combinations to avoid frustrating changeover time and a friendly team will advise on various aspects including optimum timings to maintain a party atmosphere!
Please visit the band’s website to listen to sound clips, read testimonials from 100-or-so delighted clients, and find the band on YouTube to view videos taken out in the wild!
“I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for playing for us.. You were so fantastic – so many people have asked me where we found you/how to get in touch with you! Those who have been to ceilidhs before also commented on how you’re the best band they’ve heard and had (which I too agree with!)”
Flora, 21st birthday ceilidh (Feb 2019)
“You were superb. Exactly what we had hoped for. Not only a great band but such lovely people to deal with. You made the evening really great and we have had so many comments about what a fantastic evening it was. So many people dancing….we will definitely be recommending you to others.”
