South Farm Spring Watch – July Update

South Farm > News > News & Blog > South Farm Spring Watch – July Update
Summer weddings are a real treat! The gardens are bathed in glorious sunshine and we are so happy to see our wonderful couples enjoying their garden wedding ceremony and drinks reception along with some stunning sunsets!!
Our latest update from the farm shows how quickly our Kestrel chicks have grown – they have full feathers now and are just about ready to leave their nesting box  – we expect they will return at times as we are helping with their feeding. It seems incredible it is only just over a month since they hatched!

Our Barn Owls are still very present and we are enjoying seeing them around the farm. Unfortunately they haven’t laid any eggs yet and, as it’s now late in the season, we may need to wait for next year. But we are thrilled to see the magical sight of them flying silently and gracefully over the wild flower meadows and around the small holding late in the evening and at dawn.

Our piglets are growing fast and enjoying playing in the barnyard, though in this warmer weather they can often be found napping in the shade alongside their mum, Geri.

Our owner Philip has recently caught some delicious trout from our lake in the neighbouring nature reserve . Our chefs and Catering Director Christine and are enjoying using all the fabulous homegrown fruit, vegetables and herbs from in our own small-holding. Not to mention the delicious eggs laid by our free range chickens!

Wonderful summer weddings are in full swing and we are thrilled to see our couples enjoying their South Farm Wedding in the company of their guests. Our beautiful gardens and meadows make a beautiful backdrop for some really special wedding photos all year round. This month so far our countryside wedding venue and gorgeous gardens have been bathed in lovely evening light topped off with some spectacular sunsets!  Couples have been making the most of the early evening to capture  ‘Golden Hour’ wedding photos just before the sun starts to set when the very best light and contrast gives a gorgeous glow and makes for  romantic wedding photos. We honestly think that nowhere has lovelier sunsets than South Farm!
