We provide a bespoke and flexible service to our couples, incorporating extensive menus using seasonal produce from our eight acre small holding, eggs from our chickens and pork from our kune kune pigs – all created on site by our in-house catering team. With a very busy season ahead of us, our appeal is the idyllic country setting, superlative home grown food and fantastic planning and front of house service delivered in a friendly and professional way.
Front of House Team Leaders
We always aim to be flexible, transparent and deliver above expectations in everything we do. The successful applicant will need relevant experience in a similar position with the ability to lead by example and get the best out of the team in a calm and efficient manner. You will report directly to the Event Manager on a wedding day and you will be responsible for your team from the beginning to the end of the day. Training and looking after your team are also key areas to ensure that a professional and friendly service is the norm exceeding couples’ expectations on their day.
Duties will include:
– Overseeing & working with the front of house team on Event days and set up days
– Ensuring the front of house team maintain a smart and professional approach
– Communicating with the Event Manager on Event days to ensure the smooth running of the Event
– Food service & waiting duties (including breakfast)
– Event set up
– Keeping public areas tidy and general cleaning of the venue on set up days
– Serving drinks and canapés, tea and coffee, possible bar work
– Staff training and record keeping
As we are a rural venue, your own transport is essential as there are no public services.
This is a full time position and a competitive salary is offered dependent upon age and experience.

Front of House General
We provide a very professional service to our clients and always aim to be flexible, transparent and deliver above expectations in everything we do. The successful applicant will need some relevant experience and no matter what your role at South Farm we expect everyone to work together as a team, have fun and work in a professional, trustworthy and reliable manner. We are looking for open-minded team players with lots of enthusiasm.
Duties may include:
– Food Service & Waiting Duties (including Breakfast)
– Event set up
– Keeping public areas tidy and general cleaning of the venue
– Serving drinks and canapés, tea and coffee
– Possible bar work
We usually stagger the start times of shifts so you may be able to opt for one that suits you best. Start times vary from 12 noon until 5pm and finish is usually between 7pm and 9pm – but every event is different!
Please note that we generally only employ people aged 17 or over and, as we are a rural venue, your own transport is essential as there are no public services.

The hours are morning shifts, from 9.30am to 1pm with longer hours on our weekly deep clean day. The beauty is that you can work the hours that suit you. Assistant Bar Managers (over 18s only)
We are looking for someone with bar experience including ordering, cashing up & locking up, who has enthusiasm and a positive and mature can-do attitude as well as a good work ethic. The successful candidate will be working alongside our bar manager and bar team to ensure that the evening runs smoothly and take responsibility for the site, guests and staff once the Event Manager leaves.
This is a responsible key holder role with flexible hours suited to someone who would enjoy a customer-facing role and wants to be part of a friendly, professional and busy Team.
The role is permanent but flexible based on our wedding schedule and demand. The role will involve frequent weekend and evening work with the possibility to train as an overnight manager in addition.
We are offering a competitive salary depending on age and experience. Full Training will be provided including First Aid and Fire Training. Personal Licence holder would be preferable but not essential.

Overnight Managers (over 18s only)
We are looking for someone with previous experience in leading a team to work overnight to clean and prepare the venue for the following day. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of working as part of a small team to get the job completed within a timely manner with impeccable attention to detail. This role is a hands-on job and you will be working alongside the night team to clean the venue following on from a Wedding ready for the next day’s event. This will include cleaning the public areas, kitchens and laying tables ready for the following morning.
This is a responsible key holder role with flexible hours suited to someone who wants to be part of a friendly and busy team whilst being responsible for site, staff and overnight guests.
The role is permanent but flexible based on our wedding schedule and demand. The role will involve frequent weekend and anti-social hours with the possibility to train as an Assistant Bar manager in addition.
We are offering a competitive salary depending on age and experience, with higher rates of pay for anti-social hours. Full Training will be provided including First Aid and Fire Training.

Junior Gardener/Site Assistant
We are seeking a Junior Gardner to help with growing, maintaining and preparing the site for our wedding couples. This is a very varied role and the right candidate will have an opportunity to develop skills in a number of areas so a keen interest in all things ‘outside’ is important!
The position will be full time, permanent, including some weekend duties on rota; variable through the year depending upon the needs of the garden! A competitive salary is offered dependent upon age and experience.
Main Job Roles of Junior Gardener
- Site preparation on the morning of an event, working to a deadline and sometimes on your own at weekends (driving of a golf buggy will be necessary for raking the gravel)
- Feeding of animals (pigs, sheep, ducks & chickens)
- Weeding, watering and pruning in the Formal Garden to include grass and hedge cutting
- Assisting with growing and maintenance of Small holding
Our ideal candidate will need to be reliable and be able to perform tasks in all weathers. No formal training is necessary other than an interest in gardening and growing.

Chef De Partie & Pastry Chef
We are currently looking to fill positions of Chef de Partie (main kitchen) and Pastry Chef to join our busy kitchen team. Working days are varied and can include breakfast in the morning, wedding breakfast service in the afternoon through to evening food. Every wedding breakfast menu is individual using our own seasonal produce, eggs and pork, where applicable. You will be assisting in the preparation, cooking and plating up of dishes alongside our team of chefs and kitchen porters.
Our ideal Chef De Partie candidate would be friendly and motivated with a positive working attitude and be able to communicate well with other team members. You would have a passion for fresh and seasonal produce, a good knowledge and interest in food, a willingness to learn and determination and drive. We are a no nonsense environment that is customer focused. We pride ourselves on our flexibility and going the extra mile for our guest’s satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have mental agility to contribute and strive in an ever-changing busy kitchen environment. Previous experience in a quality busy kitchen environment is essential. Experience in banqueting or event catering would be preferable. Strong knowledge of allergens is required.
Our ideal Pastry Chef should reflect the attributes mentioned above. In addition, Pastry Chef experience should be relevant to a busy Premium Wedding venue operating for large numbers while maintaining the highest quality. Our ideal candidate needs to demonstrate a knowledge of pastry (savoury and sweet), desserts (hot and cold), petit fours, chocolate work, ice cream making, cake making and ideally the basics of bread making. Thorough training will be provided however quality experience is essential. Banqueting or a large volume catering experience would be preferable. Strong knowledge of allergens is required. A small proportion of the Pastry chef job will include sharing some of the main kitchen duties, namely covering some of the breakfast shifts and evening foods as well as helping with general plating up and service.
The roles are based on a 37.5 hr week however there is always a lot to do in peak times of year (April to September) so plenty more hours are available for those that wish to work more. The roles will involve weekend and evening work. Kitchen Assistants provide essential support in ensuring that all areas and equipment in the kitchen and prep areas are kept clean and hazard free. Working days are varied and duties can include:
* Kitchen preparation at the beginning of the day, putting away of deliveries, the operation of the dishwashing machine, cleaning pots, pans, crockery, glasses, etc.
* General cleaning duties inside and outside, deep cleaning duties, cleaning and deep cleaning of fridges, walk-in fridges, and walk-in freezers, sweeping and washing floors as required, along with any other tasks as requested by the Head Chef.
* Covid safety related cleaning tasks, for example frequent cleaning of handles, contact areas, doors, etc.
* Some food preparation work will be expected and you will also be assisting in the plating up of dishes alongside our team of chefs and other kitchen porters.
* Helping with moving set up equipment, chairs, tables, etc.
Experience of working in a similar environment, knowledge of COSHH and a Basic Food Hygiene certificate would be an advantage but is not essential as training will be given. This job will involve some heavy lifting and working with chemicals.
The role is based on a 37.5 hr week, including evenings and weekends.
