Hannah and Kieran got married in May after a long wait and a total of three postponements!  Their wedding day, when it finally came, was a wonderful intimate day shared with thirty of their closest friends and family. We love how they themed their day around all the beautiful floral colours in the garden. We caught up with them to hear all about the details and planning for their long-awaited wedding day.

Date of your wedding: 18th May 2021                                    Time of your ceremony: 3pm

How and when did you meet?
We met in November 2014 at a school we both worked at. It was at the Christmas party we decided to let each other know how much we liked one other.

The areas of South Farm that you used for your big day:
We used the Bridal Suite in the morning, the The Tudor Barn for our ceremony, meal and evening reception, the grounds for drinks and photos, and the Old Dairy for Coffee. We also used The Horse Barn and The Drawing Room

Were there any colours or themes to your day?
Our theme was floral  – particularly wisteria to match the garden at South Farm. Our colours were lilac, dusty pink and sage green.

How did you choose the venue?
We looked at over ten venues but totally fell in love with South Farm as soon as we looked around. The rooms are set out so nicely and the gardens are so pretty. Staff were the most helpful and genuinely cared about our special day.

How did you feel on the day?
Extremely excited about finally getting married, after COVID meant we had postponed 3 times. Staff were full of energy and couldn’t wait to help us organise our special day. We both felt at ease.

Tell us about your special day:
After years of planning and preparation, a postponed date or two due to the pandemic, Tuesday 18th May finally came! Our wedding day was everything we wanted. Our decorations had all come together (the venue looked stunning). From the ceremony, to the amazing photos, to the yummy wedding breakfast and the impressive magician. We loved every moment and just wished time would slow down, so we could make the amazing day last longer.

Was there one particular moment that stood out for you?
Seeing each other for the first time and making our own personal vows to each other. There was not a dry eye!

How did you choose your bridesmaids?
We had Hannah’s best friend of 20 years as the maid of honour. We also had Kieran’s sisters Roisine and Finoula as our bridesmaids.

How did you pick your best men and ushers?
We had our two brothers Sean and Lewis as our Ushers and Will as our Best Man as he has been Kieran’s good friend for 15 years.

What did you wear?
Hannah wore a beautiful off the shoulder lace A line dress with a long veil. Kieran wore a dark green tweed suit with a purple pocket square and lilac/green floral tie.

What are your top tips for other couples?

  • Do not worry about who you ‘must’ invite. It is your day and sometimes there can be too much of a focus on inviting lots of people to please others. Having no choice but to have a 30 people limit due to COVID made us realise we do not need lots of people. It was more special and intimate having a smaller number.
  • Enjoy those quiet moments you have as Bride and Groom. The day flies by, so when you get an opportunity take a breath and hold each other’s hand.
  • Don’t forget your CAKE! The day goes by so quick, we didn’t get a chance to taste our cake until the next day. Grab a slice while you can!
  • All the planning and preparation can seem daunting and overwhelming. We remember thinking ‘will it all come together?’ It does! It all falls into place and there are lovely staff at South Farm who help make that happen.

Venue and catering:
Our Wedding ceremony was in the Tudor Barn at South Farm and our delicious wedding meal was catered by South Farm also in The Tudor Barn

Bridal Dress and Bridesmaids Dresses:
My dress was a lace A Line off the shoulder dress with a long veil. The bridesmaids each wore a different colour dress, one in sage green, one in dusty pink and one in purple to match our colour theme! All dresses were long with ½ sleeves. The top half of the dresses were lace.

Groom & Groomsmen outfits:
Dark green tweed 3 piece suit. Lilac pocket square with a lilac and green floral tie for the groomsmen and dark purple pocket square with lilac and green floral tie for the groom.

Grooms & Groomsmen outfits:
The Groom and Groomsmen wore a green tweed 3 piece suit. Lilac pocket square with a lilac and green floral tie for the groomsmen and dark purple pocket square with lilac and green floral tie for the groom.

Cake:
We had a 4 tier ivory cake  – lemon, chocolate, Victoria sponge and oreo cookie sponge. Lilac and dusty pink fresh flowers were placed on the tiers.

Hair:
I wore my hair hair in a lowered, curled bun with a side French plait and a tiara. My Maid of Honour had a classic lower bun with flowers. The bridesmaids had curled half up hair style with flowers.

Makeup:
I choose natural tones with hint of pink and smokey eyes.

Where did you go/where do you plan to go on honeymoon?
Having a 12 week old baby meant putting our ‘dream’ honeymoon off for a little while. We have booked a mini moon to Centre Parcs as a family, which we are very excited about.

We loved catching up with Hannah & Kieran and hearing all about their wonderful May wedding.
