Grooms visiting a South Cambridgeshire menswear business can rest assured they are in safe hands as the shop is celebrating a string of successes in the awards arena.
Staff at Chimney Formal Menswear took centre stage at the Royston Business Awards, when they received the award for Best New Business from EastEnders actress Gillian Taylforth at the Royston Heath, earlier this month.
Since September, the business located in High Street, Bassingbourn, has also been a finalist for a national award by Bridal Buyer and shortlisted in the Groomswear Supplier of the Year category for the east region at the English Wedding Awards 2016.
Owner of the shop Sharon Cousans said she is delighted that her formal menswear business has received recognition in a largely female focussed industry.
She said: “I’m delighted to have won and to have been nominated for some top awards in the wedding industry.
“All too often the focus is on the bride and her dress, our job is to make sure that the groom also receives the same special treatment.
“The Royston Awards ceremony was a great evening, with more than 180 people in attendance. To win and be presented with the award for best new business was a great feeling. I’m very proud of all we do here at Chimney.”
The shop, built beside the original 13.5 metre-high chimney that once provided the draught for the local ironworks’ furnace, has been a labour of love for Sharon and her team.
She added: “We’re here to give men somewhere to go and find an outfit they will treasure whatever the occasion, whether it’s for a wedding, a day at the races or a graduation party.”
