South Farm is a successful and unique wedding venue located in beautiful rural surroundings in South West Cambridgeshire. Full Time Positions:

Assistant Grower at South Farm
Our smallholding produces about 70% of the fruit and vegetables used by ourkitchen, growing around 150 different varieties in open fields, polytunnels and fruit cages. Additionally, the smallholding has pigs, sheep and chickens.  We are seeking an Assistant Grower to help manage and further develop the smallholding.

Salary and Working hours
Full time, permanent, including some weekend duties on rota; variable through the year depending upon the needs of the garden! Salary will be dependent on experience and living arrangements. £17-20K. On-site accommodation is available.

Main Functions of Assistant Grower
To assist with production on the farm, growing quality fruit and vegetables throughout the year using organic methods. Also assisting with general gardening around the estate and associated site maintenance.

Principal duties and responsibilities – with support and training where practical
• participating in all aspects of production, from propagation through to harvest
• assisting in monitoring irrigation, ventilation, pest and disease management and composting
• assisting in planning and implementing development of the site
• harvesting produce as required by the kitchen
• maintaining growing spaces and equipment
• helping to Improve efficiency and growing techniques
• helping to record crop sales and yields
• assisting in ordering necessary supplies
• attending relevant meetings and liaising with other departments on a weekly basis
• assisting in improving efficiency and growing techniques

Part Time Positions:

We are particularly looking for candidates who can work during term time and are not restricted by college or university commitments – we have a great pool of students who work during the holidays but we need people who can work all year round not just during the holidays!!

We are always looking for local people to join our pool of casual staff. We offer a very flexible working arrangement. Each month staff are sent a list of the shifts available, they respond indicating which they are available for and we then allocate shifts and email shift allocations.

We are always interested in recruiting people for the following roles:


  • Event set up
  • Waiting/Waitressing
  • General cleaning of the venue
  • Serving drinks and canapés, tea and coffee

We usually stagger the start times of shifts so you will be able to opt for one that suits you best. Start time vary from 12 noon until 5pm and finish is usually between 7pm and 9pm.

Please note that we generally only employ people aged 18 or over.


We are looking for a Head Housekeeper to look after our on-site accommodation as well as more casual housekeeping staff to join our award winning team! Housekeeping will normally be carried out in morning shifts, other than the deep clean days which will be longer hours.  The Head Housekeeper will take charge of overseeing laundry and ordering, maintaining stocks of supplies, deep cleaning days and organising housekeeping staff.  Salary dependent on experience but you will need relevant housekeeping experience for the head housekeeper role.

Afternoon Bar, Evening Bar and Overnight Supervisor

If you are: over 18 with relevant bar experience, enthusiastic with a positive can do attitude and have a good work ethic then this responsible role with flexible hours may be for you.  Please get in touch. £7 – £12 per hour (depending on experience and time of shifts)

Handy Person

We are looking for a Handyperson to work one day a week to be able to assist with general site maintenance items. fixing things that get broken and some extra deep cleaning of specific inside/outside areas on our down day (usually a Tuesday).  Get in touch if you have a spare day to fill – this role may well suite a retired person who would still like to be active and part of a busy Venue!
