Things to do
If you wish for something more energetic than just enjoying the grounds and a drink on the terrace, we can suggest a number of things to do, on site and off.
Crop and Cook.
Take advantage of two of our outstanding features, wonderful home grown produce and a talented team in the kitchen. Starts with harvesting the pick of the day, collecting the eggs, selecting the herbs and cropping the vegetable fields. Back in the kitchen, devise seasonal menus with the chef. To make it fun, divide into teams for a competitive cook off. Be sure to build in some tasters and canapés along the way, probably a little snifter would help as well.
Teams of up to a dozen are ideal, focused on lunch or dinner. Invite your partners to share the meal, maybe blind judge the results?
Fees from £80 per participant, £40 for camp followers
We have exceptionally good dry fly fishing for rainbow trout on our private lake. It is very lightly fished by invitation only. The site is enchanting and the day centres around the romantic fishing hut cantilevered out over the water, where a sensational lunch is served. Ghillie, equipment and tuition provided. Fish from the punt, the shore or the pontoon for up to six rods.
Price £1000 all in for eight guests, includes refreshments or breakfast on arrival, lunch, wines and assistance.
Other Activities
Clay pigeon shooting, game shooting, archery, and a host of other activities can be arranged.
Round and About
Wimpole Hall, our former landlord, is close by. The Backs, Duxford War Museum and Ely Cathedral are in easy reach. Gardeners should visit Anglesey Abbey, Audley End and the Botanic Gardens in Cambridge.
